lavola develops 8 energy audits in Moroco financed by EIB

In recent years, renewable energies and energy efficiency have occupied an important place in Morocco’s energy strategy. The National Electricity Bureau (ONE) and the Center for the Development of Renewable Energies in Morocco, in conjunction with EIB, have decided to lead an initiative to do 8 energy audits of Moroccan industry. The audit is lead by a European engineer expert in the relevant industrial sector. This project is known as “ Audit Optima”. The main objective is to transfer European knowledge in this field to develop programs of industrial energy audits and to establish an appropriate financing, supported by EIB.

lavola has been chosen by EIB to lead this project. This is because of the company’s expertise in this sector and also its previous experience in Morocco (during the 1990s it developed an efficient energy project in this country), and finally, for the acknowledgement by EIB of the work done by lavola in the market study about potential energy saving in the municipalities of Barcelona province.

One of the aims of the project is to identify the real potential of energy saving in the industries and the necessary investment to make these savings. At the same time, it is expected to improve the management in the energy sector. The results of the project, which began in October 2009, are due in 7 months.
